Alex Wright is a writer, designer, and researcher who has led UX design and research efforts for Etsy, The New York Times, and frog design, among others. His interests include the Information Age and socially progressive user experience design.

Wright is the author of Cataloging the World: Paul Otlet and the Birth of the Information Age, and Glut: Mastering Information Through the Ages.

From 2009-2013, he was the Director of User Experience at The New York Times.

Wright’s doctoral research is within the emerging field of Transition Design.

In much the same way scientists use experiments to understand whether a new treatment or medicine is having the intended effects on an individual’s health, we use experiments to understand whether a new feature, design, or marketing campaign is having the intended effect on users’ behavior.
