Video: Design Is [Human]
Gretchen Anderson on making products human-centered at scale
Designers have started taking “human-centered” to heart in how they design products and services. But when developing a practice within a larger organization, or serving growing markets, how can you avoid losing your human touch?
As head of design for Pacific Gas & Electric, Gretchen Anderson is helping to build the utility company of the future. Anderson spent the first part of her career in design consulting for firms like frog, Cooper, LUNAR, and Punchcut. Recently, she served as the Vice President of product for GreatSchools and consulted on the design of the hardware and software of a next-generation surgical system. Anderson is a Bay Area native who left California only long enough to get a bachelor’s degree in history and literature from Harvard University.
